Okay so The Host.
It was good! Defiantly tear jerker moments.
The Mel/Wanda goodbye was the big one for me.
Emily Browning as Pet wasn’t bad and wasn’t great either. But again she wasn’t bad. They should’ve kept her hair blond like in the books though.
I was surprised at how much Max Iron’s voice sounds like Robert’s I really wasn’t looking for any comparisons there but I couldn’t help but notice some similarities.
He was brilliant.And really cute.
Jake was fantastic his acting with the scene where he holds the Seeker’s Soul is flawless.Plus he’s really cute.
Saoirse was great in a lot of ways. But they didn’t give her much to work with other than reacting to her surroundings and as we know Wanda plays things close to the vest. I didn’t like how they made Wanda speak aloud to talk to Melanie. It seemed to make no sense
Diane Kruger was good as the Seeker. I think she would’ve been brilliant if they had made her more unlikeable like in the book. I was really looking forward to her screaming at Wanda. Her host is nothing like what she was in the book. Still good acting though.
Hurt was great as he always is. He was in the miniseries Dune which I adored. Also based on the book Frank Herbert’s Dune. Which they are going to make a new movie they should just cast him as his character cough cough. I thought that he would seem to young too be Jeb but he defiantly brought something to the role.
Doc well. Wasn’t bad wasn’t great either. I felt he lacked that almost palpable kindness.
Kyle was perfect but I really wish they’d put in the scene where he goes and brings back his girlfriend and ends up being so sweet to the Soul inside her body.
Maggie was good. But if you’ve read the books she doesn’t really want to get too near Wanda and that just goes out the window in the movie.
The Soul’s animation was great and so cute! Omg I can’t even.
I cannot tell you how much of a cargasm I had at seeing the LOTUS. I was like “cool chrome cars. Damn they got so power on them! Holy shit it’s a LOTUS!”.
They didn’t include a lot of lines which they really should’ve like when Wanda is saying goodbye to Ian.
The movie as a whole felt a bit rushed. The book is very long you can’t just fit it into the tiny slot you set for it.
This is something that I’d like to see developed. I’d like to see more movies (once Stephanie finishes the books) So it’s something I’d like to see more of. Defiantly buying the DVD.
I feel if she puts more action in the next books the movies will be a little better. If they use the same director.
I felt like the director didn’t know what to do with the emotional scenes and was more at home with the action shots.
But my main criticism of the film would be that it felt rushed. As I was watching it I was going through my head what could’ve been done instead.
If I was Stephanie I would make the recommendation that they get a new director for the next films if they come to be. I was surprised she didn’t put her foot down about a lot of things but directors can be assholes and dismiss everything you say. I would get one of the Twilight Directors maybe. cause they are used to working with Stephanie and lets face those movies were a huge success and very visually stimulating. None of those movies felt rushed. Except maybe New Moon we don’t talk about New Moon.
I really hope no one is crucifying the actors and actresses because they did the best job that they could and there ARE some gems in those scenes. I think we know who dropped the ball. As the director you can’t just be the director that does that directs the way camera angles you have to be more of a Peter Jackson and micro manage a bit. It is your responsibility to make the sure the movie comes together in a coherent matter.
Maybe this director thought he could just coast on the after Twilight fame I don’t know.
The one thing that drove me and my mother who is hard of hearing crazy was the FUCKING ECHOES ECHOES ECHOES ECHOES !
I could guess what they were saying cause I read the books. Now I’m not hard of hearing like my mother. But I “inherited” her auditory processing problem. Which means I can hear fine but somewhere information gets lost so I don’t hear everything you hear correctly my brain fills in the gaps. So I end up hearing wrong.
The end was really cool. I really enjoyed the actor’s and actresses. And it makes more sense to me that she’s calling the next book “The Seeker”.
The music also left something to be desired. Not the things they did choose it was the things they didn’t. I mean if you know anything about the Twilight movies you know that the soundtracks did amazingly well. Stephanie has a mother fucking playlist ON HER SITE! You could just browse through there! I haven’t listened to it yet but I will. I’ve listened to all the Twilight ones and she has impeccable music taste.
Let me break it down for you why I was upset about the music. There were two songs. Two that had singing in it. The rest pretty much was orchestrated. It was pretty for the first few scenes. Not for the entire movie.
So all in all though I enjoyed the movie and hope for a sequel. They are estimating that it will make double it’s film budget in the cinemas. I feel that is enough to say “Hey lets do the next one.” But that’s me. If you want another one you should defiantly go see more than once. I hope I get to but I rarely go to the movies.
So in conclusion they should hire me as a “fan consultant”.

Just sayin…
